Priscilla has much congestion in the nasal passage. pls pray that the passage can be
cleared naturally before the doc can remove the trachy from her throat.

She has a slight eye infection. We now have difficulty changing the feeding tube due to a
cavity found behind her nose that caused the tube to be entrenched. Now it
can only be changed by the doctor every time she goes for check-up ie every 3
months instead of the house nurse. She suffered greatly with bleeding on
Tues & yesterday when inserting the feeding tube through her nose.

Encouraging observations...she tried to raise to hand to shake-hand with the
nurse.

When Children Pray..

Thank you for your continued prayers. Priscilla continues to work hard to regain her muscle strength. She is able to sit on the side of the bed without support for about 20 mnutes at a time! This is to strengthen her back muscles.

Her arm strength is also improving. Most touching is that she can even reach out to hold Adrian's hand. :)

Pray for the general health of the family, passing around colds and flu,
amazingly Pris has not fallen sick these last nine months while at home.
Pray for her physical strength to increase as she relearns all the involuntary body movements.

Pray she can swallow.

Ryan and Marilyn continue to be very fervent prayer warriors for their Mummy,
Ryan reminds his Sunday school class to pray and Marilyn insists that Daddy say a LONG prayer every night for her.

Priscilla is aware of her condition and is doing her best to work her muscles
She is doing her part. Lets do ours!

Persevere in prayer to our Almighty and All powerful God who heals.

doing the physical therapy.

Priscilla went for her trachea review yesterday and was told that there is still a lot of secretion in her nasal passage way. They change her trachea tube and set the next review 2 months time. She may discouraged by the news.

On her bodily movements, she is able to lift her left hand more and the rest of her limbs are slowly moving at will. She is very well aware of everything as I did have a talk to encourage her and she cried with redness in her eyes and some tears. I believe she is pretty happy and encourage by all those who have visited her and prayed for her. One way to communicate with her is to ask her question and she will respond yes by blinking her left eye.

Continue to pray for her that she will strengthen her faith in God for her full recovery.

Physical Therapist visits

Thanks again for your continued prayers. Last week a physical "terrorist" from Touch Community Services
came by to review Priscilla's case and prescribe further exercises. These are HARD work for Pris thus the name "physical terrorist".. given by the therapist herself.
Priscilla is sleeping better at night but still sleeps a bit too much in the day. She can keep her eyes open a long while now, sits in a wheel chair up to a few hours in the evening and watches TV a while, she can raise her arms and legs "on command" -shows she hears well. The PT cannot come so often so it is up to Jennifer, the helper, Pris' Mum, Adrian to do the exercises daily.

All this to say the family welcomes your visits, just give Adrian a call first.
And values your continued prayers. Lets continue to encourage this dear family in the Lord and in this fight to regain what has been lost.

Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord

Do continue to pray that she is able to work her swallowing function. Current, she just pushes out her salvia out of her mouth and her mouth and tongue is still shaking, though a bit lesser now. Pray that she may be able to rid herself of the trache and breathe from her nose and eat normally.

Pray for strength and perseverance.

As for the kids, Marilyn is coughing and having running nose while Ryan coughs in the morning.

As for me , pray for strength to hold the fort both in the home and in the ministry as well as physically - got the flu bug now.

Dear Praying Ones,

Thank you for your faithful prayers even when the blog is quiet..

Priscilla IS able to move a little more now, ie. turning her head, moving her hands, able to sit in a wheelchair for a short time. We thank God for the maid, Jennifer, who is consciencious and diligent in care-giving. Priscilla will allow her to do the physio excercises with her now.

She is sleeping better at night, though she still sleeps a lot during the day.

Pray for continued strength for Adrian to fulfill all his duties as husband, father,
and mother.
Pray for Priscilla's continued healing and awareness of God's presence daily. That she will be encouraged and press on to regain more and body function. It is really hard work!
For provision of "helpers" to do the exercises for her, whether or not to hire
an extra maid.

May God give us much patience and persevering prayer

A physio therapist recommends Priscilla get more exercise, ie.
is moved from bed to chair daily and limbs moved. Anyone who can help
by assisting the maid to do this please call Adrian.

She has been healthy these few months at
home and Ryan can even tell when "Mummy is angry" (not pleased) She will
cough!

As we continue to pray for Priscilla's healing pray
That they will not be discouraged.

Resurrection Power

Priscilla continues to amaze us with her physical awareness.
She can now transfer objects from one hand to the other and is
working towards sitting up in a wheelchair on her own. A recent visit from a friend who is a physio therapist showed she is capable of more than Adrian even knew! So let us continue to pray God's strength and resurrection power for her! She needs much encouragement as the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak".

Thank you so much for your prayers and visits for her and the family. Marilyn seems to be adjusting well to her nursery Sunday school class too.

Thank you for your continued prayers for Priscilla and family. Her eyes are open and responsive. She has developed some uncontrolled movements of her hands. Pray that the right dosage of medication can be given so that she is not too drowsy.

Wed. 20 Feb. she will go for an ENT review in hospital. Pray that the journey goes smoothly. It involves moving her from second floor room to gurney to ambulance to hospital. Wisdom for docs to decide whether to change her breathing tube.

Pray for strength daily and encouragement from the Lord for all.

Thank you for your prayers for Priscilla. We are indeed a people who can call upon our God and He will answer. Jer. 33:3
She has shown some improvements like opening her eyes and "watching TV". She has been more responsive during this time at home. Marilyn (3 years) enjoys talking to Mommy.

She has a review coming up soon. Pray that medication can be reduced so that she will not be so "sleepy".

Adrian and family welcome visitors to encourage her in her spirit and pray for her, they only request that you call first to inform them of your visit.

Priscilla was discharged from TTSH yesterday. She is now at her home in Bedok. Do give Adrian a call if you intend to visit.

We thank Go that the family can be re-united and continue to pray for healing for Priscilla and for strength for the caregivers, Adrian, Priscilla's Mum and their helper. The children are very happy to have their mummy home again!

Please continue to pray that Priscilla will wake up. Docs say she is able to be discharged as they have done what they can do medically and her condition is stable. Her color has returned to its "milky white". If she regains consciousness it is possible for her to be admitted to Ang Mo Kio Hospital. If not, there is the option of taking her home for now. A big step for Priscilla and the family with lots of preparation required. We have seen God work in her in similar situations before. Let us persevere to "come boldly before the throne of grace" on her behalf.

Adrian needs much wisdom from God at this time and as always
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow.

God has blessed the PPH Youth Ministry recently with many of the youth receiving a special touch from the Holy Spirit.

The "red eye" infection cleared up quickly and Priscilla is now stable, no fever for a while now.
Pray that she can swallow as this is critical in her breathing and weaning off the breathing tube. The docs will try everyday
to close the tube for a while.
Pray that God will restore and revive her with His healing hand,
that God's Word will bring strength and healing.
Pray for Adrian , to have strength for each day, to stay close to God, and direction in the Youth Ministry. To not be discouraged.

The nurses and doctors consider the fact that Priscilla has recovered completely from the infection in the brain
a miracle because she is the first patient they have ever seen to survive such an infection in the history of the hospital, Singapore, maybe the world!

she did before the infection. Continue to pray that she will open her eyes and that the tracheostomy tube can be removed.

Priscilla has been moved out of the isolation room to Ward 10C, Bed 79. A brain scan showed that all the infection abcesses in the frontal part is gone. The one at the back is getting smaller.

Please continue to pray that the infection will be totally cleared, and that she will wake up very soon.

They that wait upon the Lord...

Isaiah 41:31 says "those who wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they will mount up with wings as eagles..." KJV. To "wait upon" in the Hebrew qawah means " to bind together by twisting, clinging to, to be joined, and to expect, to be confident." Much the way a young child wraps itself around and clings to its mother in desperation to find security.

Thank you for your continued prayers over the past months. It is been a bit "quiet" lately as we having been waiting upon God, clinging to our Heavenly Father. The last reports from the docs have been very favorable. In fact, they are quite amazed at Priscilla's remarkable improvement, Dr. Ivan Ng confirms it is the power of prayer! They are even discussing her discharge! All Glory to God!

Tomorrow she will have a CT scan. Please pray that she can open her eyes and that she will be discharged very soon. And that Priscilla, Adrian will have renewed strength as promised to soar on wings like eagles...

Yesterday the scan showed that the infection has spread all over the brain. The doctors acknowledged that Priscilla looks OK and is fighting hard. They will not administer antibiotics to the brain, but via the bloodstream. Another scan is scheduled for next Monday.

We continue to place our faith in God and in His compassion and His gracious answering of our prayers.

The doctors will administer antibiotics to the brain one last time now. Then they intend to pull out all the shunts from her brain. It seems that all is working fine now, and that she does not even need an internal shunt. They will be doing this step by step.

The swelling on her brain has gone down. Antibiotics is being administered directly to the brain now. She is off the ventilator and breathing on her own now. Her digestion is better and she is able to move her bowels.

Priscilla came out of surgery around 9.30 tonight. A cyst (where much of the infection was located) was successfully removed in the lower brain. But other parts of the brain as well as the ventricles are also infected.

Please continue to pray that the antibiotics will be effective. They are considering applying the antibiotic directly to the brain.

Our Eyes are Upon You

3:00 pm today Priscilla has gone for an emergency operation to clear the lower brain of infection. Please uphold Priscilla and the family in prayer.

When facing his formidable enemy King Jehosaphat humbly admitted "For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." 2 Chron. 20:12
Later the prophet speaks: "Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army, For the battle is not yours, but God's." 20:15 Verse 17 "You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions, stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you.. Do not be afraid do not be discouraged, go out and face them and the Lord will be with you."
In the morning, after he and all the people of Judah fell down in worship before the Lord, and the Levites praised God with a very loud voice Jehosaphat said, "Have faith in the Lord your God and you will be upheld." And he appointed men to go ahead of the army and they sang "Give thanks to the Lord for his love endures forever." 20:20-21 And as they sang the enemy was defeated.

Latest - the antibiotic is not reaching the brain to clear the infection. An infection is festering there. An MRI will be done tomorrow, and an operation scheduled for Wednesday to clear the infection.

May my prayer come before you; turn your ear to my cry.

Last night, the brain shunt (or external ventricular drain, EVD) had to be flushed, for it to drain properly.

The culture shows that the infection is still there. The EVD appears not to work well intermittently. A scan of her stomach is expected soon. She is not feeding well, and they are afraid there might be an abcess.

Please pray specifically for the 3 things above - infection, EVD and feeding. She has now been moved to hi dependency Room 4.

Priscilla is back on the strongest antibiotic Polymycin again. Please pray that the culture will come back negative!

It has been a eventful day. Pris' heartrate dropped to below 50 in the morning. She went in for surgery around noon - to put in another shunt in the lower part of the brain (cerebellum) for drainage. She took a long time getting out (after 5pm). Then it was found that the shunt worked for a while, and then stopped working. After another brain scan, she went in again to re-position the shunt at 7pm.

She came out at 9pm, and this time there was pus in the cerebellum. If antibiotics does not work, she may have to be operated on again, to remove the infection. It will be a major surgery.

God, help us all!

As at Friday noon - "Priscilla is responding favorably to the antibiotics. The white blood count in her CSF has reduced from 4000 to 60. When it goes to 5, they will change her external shunt to an internal shunt. Next step after that is to remove the trachy tube. She is also responding well to a slow, continuous tube feeding. Off and on, she will have a slight fever. Please continue to be in prayer."

Priscilla stabliized

Priscilla's condition is stabilized now. She has not had a fever since 5am yesterday. The CSF appears clearer and is in for a lab test.

We would like to encourage visitors to read Scriptures of faith and pray over her. To build up her faith and trust in the Lord. Pray also that her digestive system will improve, it has not been working well lately.

Priscilla had bleeding from the brain this morning. Her blood pressure was low and she had a fever last night. Her mom stayed with her till the early morning.

Several people came and prayed. As of 12.30pm, her temperature is ok at 36.3. Her BP is ok at 110/70. They did a culture on her infection and have decided to give her a different antibiotic that will be less toxic to the kidneys. She came out of her drowsy state for a couple of short periods. Let's continue praying.

18 Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, "So shall your offspring be." 19 Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead--since he was about a hundred years old--and that Sarah's womb was also dead. 20 Yet he did not waver through unbelief regarding the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God, 21 being fully persuaded that God had power to do what he had promised. 22 This is why "it was credited to him as righteousness.

There is infection in Priscilla's brain fluid [CSF - cerebral-spinal-fluid]. The fluid is cloudy and is not good. She has developed a high fever 2am last night.

Please pray for the infection to clear so that they can replace the external shunt with an internal one soon.

His grace is sufficient.

Cast Down but Not Destroyed

We thank God that Priscilla was discharged from ICU last Wed and is now recovering in Ward 10B Bed 35. Her immune system continues to be low and she is sleeping a lot, needs to rest. So please do not disturb or touch her. If you really feel burdened to visit, please keep it short.

We must admit that our faith has been shaken and we have many questions. This morning our pastor led us to the believer's prayer in Acts 4:24-31. First they praised God, then they told God their specific problem and asked for His help. Notice that He did not remove their problem. We may ask God to remove our problems and He may choose to do so, or He may choose to leave the problem in place but will give us the grace to deal with it. Is this not answered prayer? What is supernatural is their boldness to keep on proclaiming the Word of God in spite of the situation.

Just got call from Adrian. Another setback. As they were trying to wean her off the shunt, it appears that the external shunt may now be blocked. She is going in for a scan. They may need to perform an operation to replace that shunt. Let us never give up, and always keep praying.

Psalm 54:2 Hear my prayer, O God; listen to the words of my mouth.

Psalm 68:19-20 but God has surely listened and heard my voice in prayer. Praise be to God, who has not rejected my prayer or withheld his love from me!

Pray for Priscilla

Priscilla had a fever spike on Friday night and was transfered to ICU - Ward 3C Room 11. The doctors are still unable to determine the cause of the fever. She is already on different antibiotics and strong ones. She is also shaking a lot and does not appear to have had much sleep.

In light of this, no Coma Therapy until further notice.

Please continue in fervent prayer for God's healing.

Sight and Smell therapy resume

Thank God that Priscilla's temperature is back to normal. She is still on antibiotics though. In light of this we can resume the "Coma Therapy" for sight and smell ONLY starting Wed 16th May. No massage, sound, or taste for now.

Again her Ward is still 10C bed 80, just behind where she was before.

A few precautions we must take:
1. Wash hands - wear disposable gloves on both hands. We have our own box in the cabinet beside her bed.
2. Do ONLY the Light therapy (torchlight) and Smell. Do not untie her hands as she may try to pull out tubes.
3. If you are not confident on how to do it please let me know and either Peter or myself will give you OJT.

Spiritual Therapy

Many thanks from Adrian for those who gave "spiritual therapy" to Priscilla this week. He feels it encouraged her (and him as well).

It is a lonely road. She is now in Ward 10C (same Ward) Bed 80.

Adrian asks that we do not touch her to lessen chance of infection. But feel free to read to her, pray, sing as the Lord leads you. Continue to pray for the "bug" to go away, she is on antibiotics now, her temp. is normal today. She may have another minor surgery this week for the shunt in her head. Will keep you posted.

Priscilla is going in for a scan at 2pm today to check if there is any infection in the stomach area. Please uphold her in prayer.

Adrian just called at 8am. Just leaving TTSH after spending whole night there. Next bed patient dying and noisy whole night. Priscilla just slept. Dr Ivan Ng thinks that the infection is not due to the shunt, but something else that they are still investigating. She is still running a fever. If it does not get better, she may need to go back to High Dependency. Please pray for strength for Adrian, healing for Priscilla.

Priscilla will go for an operation today (time not known yet) to replace the internal shunt that is infected. Doc will replace it with an external shunt.

Priscilla has a fever

Adrian just informed me (Fri. 7:30) that Priscilla has a fever.

In light of her pending surgery on her throat on Wed (if well) :

1. As a "team" we each set aside time for fasting and prayer sometime over the next five days (up to you how you want to do it). Pray For healing from the fever and successful op or NO op.

2. Adrian asks that we suspend the therapy "exercises" so as to let her rest as much as possible between now and Wed 9/5. He will inform when to resume the therapy. He says that WE CAN still visit to minister to her, sing, pray, read Bible …

Scheduling

Looking at the schedule below it would be great if anyone can switch to Tuesdays as Irene suggested in her comment. It would help to balance out the week. We have also learned that going earlier than 10:30 am for morning time slot was not productive as she is too sleepy.

The group of ENT doctors think that her breathing passage is constricted. The flesh/tissue has grown around it. Surgery is planned for next Wednesday to open up the passage.

Please pray that this surgery would not even be necessary, and that she can breath without the trachea tube.

A scan was done on Priscilla's throat yesterday. She had a lot of phlegm. She has been very tired lately. Please pray that her throat will be ok, and that the tracheostomy tube can be removed.

Pris has not been moved to the AMKio hospital yet. This morning, she woke up when friends arrived. Sounds like there is some phlegm in her throat. Even then, therapy went on as usual.

Weaning off

Dr Ivan Ng wants to wean Priscilla off the trachea tube before sending her to AMK Hospital. They will start tomorrow. Please pray that it will work.

Dear all, please continue to pray for Adrian, and Priscilla's mother. She feels dizzy from hypertension. The daily visits are taking a toll on the whole family.

A senior ENT doctor reviewed Priscilla and was unable to remove the tracheostomy tube. They are planning to put in a smaller one. If that does not work, they will do a CT scan of that area. Please pray that her functions from the neck up will improve rapidly, and the trachea tube will be removed soon. She is responding well to occupational and physiotherapy. They are teaching her to get off the bed to a wheelchair, hand/eye coordination, etc. Please pray fervently for her bodily function from the neck up. Thank you.

Priscilla had Physio Therapy this morning, after which she was tired and sleepy. She had a few visitors. But ComaAT went on as usual. She was quite responsive, even in her tiredness.

Latest from Peter: Yesterday (Wed 25/4) I can definitely say that Priscilla can see because her eyes blinked whenever you move object or hands near her eyes. Praise the Lord! We still proceed with the light therapy until she can perfectly track the light, right/left, etc. The color cards and photos can definitely be intoduced now.
(He is working on a hard copy set of colors for us.) If anyone can down load them to a lap top would be even better as it can store more and is very vibrant. Thanks so much to those who have added your comments after your visit! Keep it up!

Priscilla Arises

This week most of us arrived at the Ward to find Priscilla siitting in a chair! This is great progress as it requires greater muscle control. She has even expressed that she is ready to walk out of the hospital (to run away from all of us, our pokes and flashes). But be assured this is a good thing. She has much desire to be well and lets do our part diligently and lovingly. Along with our continual prayers ...

Pray that the throat area will heal, so she can swallow and trach can be removed, that she will be encouraged every day, she will experience God's grace and mercy.

2 Cor 9:12-13 "This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of God's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God ..."

Remarkable Things

Celene and Janet found Priscilla very awake this morning! Tks Prayer Chain for praying! She seemed to be waiting for us. Her arms and legs move a lot now but she can "obey" instructions to put them down very well when we touch the part. (Remember our demo with Peter?)
We can really thank God for the 5 days of sessions so far. Any volunteers for Saturdays? Let Janet know. We will give her a Sabbath on Sunday.
Speaking of Sunday, we will meet again in the kindergarten classroom at 11:15 to teach each other what we have learned (especially for those who didn't have OJT with Peter). Others are welcome.
Let's continue to bring our sister to Jesus, as the friends did in Luke 5:17-26, and we will surely say like them "we have seen remarkable things today"!

Today, PS and Margaret visited Pris. It was very, very reassuring to have on the job training with Peter Png. His demo and guidance helped a lot.

Most of the time, Pris was sleeping. She slept even while we went through the activities. But every now and then there were some movements and responses. And the beeper beeped loudly many, many times.

Dear Sisters,

Please begin your visits this week. Peter is trying to arrange to meet each of you or have someone from his church, Faith Methodist, who is experienced to demo the first round with you. I found this really helpful.

Please confirm your day/time with me (Janet) if you have not done so. Try to work in pairs for now if you can. It would be easier on you and there would be a stand in should you fall sick. Also one can do the therapy while the other talks, prays or sings.

They seem to be feeding her on the half hour now ie. 10:30, 12:30. Please DO NOT do the mouth therapy right after the feed. Finish the rest of the therapy first and then go back to the mouth therapy later. For smell and taste therapy, please do only one of the options per session.

There was an announcement yesterday, over 1st & 2nd Service, that there will be a Coma Arousal Therapy Training on Friday (to minister to and benefit our dear sister, Priscilla). Please note that the training is now postponed to 15 April (Sun) 1-2pm at PPH.

Peter Png, a trained therapist, from Faith Methodist Church, will share a series of routines/ activities to stimulate Priscilla's senses. This is meant to aid the brain in establishing new pathways to the body. These are simple and repeatable, such as smelling different things, listening to a variety of music/ radio sounds, light massage with brushes, etc. Peter has much experience to share and help us get our Team going. We hope individuals can commit a couple of hours a week to do the therapy on a regular basis.

Pray that she can breath through her nose instead of via the trachea. She is also having diarrhea today. Pray that her brain will recover and that she will regain all her faculties.
